Job Description: As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with SEMH needs within the classroom and beyond. You will work closely with teaching staff to implement strategies that promote positive behavior management, emotional regulation, and academic progress. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-on-one support to students with SEMH needs.
  • Assisting in the planning and delivery of tailored interventions and support programs.
  • Collaborating with teachers to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitoring and recording student progress, behavior, and engagement.
  • Building positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Implementing strategies to de-escalate challenging situations and support students in crisis.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with students with SEMH needs is desirable.
  • A genuine passion for supporting the social, emotional, and mental well-being of young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in education, counselling, psychology, or a related field is advantageous.
