Skills: Experience working with SEN pupils

As an Art Therapist, you will be responsible for providing therapeutic art sessions to SEN pupils in an educational setting. Your primary focus will be on using art as a form of communication and expression to support the emotional and mental well-being of the students.

  • Plan and deliver art therapy sessions tailored to the individual needs of SEN pupils
  • Assess and evaluate the progress and development of each student through art therapy interventions
  • Collaborate with teachers and other educational professionals to integrate art therapy into the students' learning plans
  • Maintain accurate records of therapy sessions and student progress
  • Stay up-to-date with best practises in art therapy and SEN education
  • Recognised qualification in Art Therapy
  • Registration with a relevant professional body
  • Experience working with SEN pupils

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Art Therapy or a related field

Prior experience working as an Art Therapist in an educational setting

  • Understanding of special educational needs and how art therapy can support these needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
  • Empathy and patience when working with vulnerable populations

This role involves working with SEN pupils in an educational environment, typically during school hours. The position is part-time and temporary, requiring flexibility in scheduling.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
